Swingers: Let us swing in peace
Just about everyday there seems to be a news story about a swingers club being protested for one reason or another. Though these protests vary in location, those who are protesting seem to be of the same mindset. I could be wrong but I do not know of a single U.S state that has made it illegal for consenting adults to have sex.
It is not prostitution, it is not un- consentual, it is not displayed in the public arena for all to see. So what is the harm? Why is that those who do not believe the lifestyle is for them, feel the need to take it away from those who do? As you can see, a few stories from our blog point out a few protests, even city ordinances being implemented in order to stop swingers from doing what they enjoy. Is it that we have a conditional constitution? Where does it state, you have the right to gather but only if that’s all you do.
I’ve never heard of anyone protesting a church on a Sunday. They also pass a collection plate around to accept donations. I’m sure the donations are used to maintain the church, pay the pastor and help the church continue on. So I have no problem with that. Now I’ve been to church a few times, they sing, some dance and yes they have refreshments afterwards, everyone enjoys themselves. Some churches venture out into the public and knock on doors to spread the word. Now lets compare.
A swingers club is a group of consenting people that have gathered in a building for the same purpose. That is to meet other like minded people for socializing or yes even sex. But not everyone is allowed into these clubs. You must be 18 and in some cases 21 to enter, some restrict their club to couples only, some cater to both singles and couples. The windows are closed, some even darkened, the door is monitored and most clubs accept donations or have a membership fee for entrance. Lets face it, nothing is free these days. The building has property taxes, maintenance, lights, heat and whatever else. Is it wrong that everyone takes a bit of responsibility in helping out?
Swingers clubs can be a regular on-premise building (meaning like a hall equipped for pleasure), or someones house that swingers gather at. I still don’t see an issue with either one. Who is it harming? Unless you live in an apartment and you are throwing parties, then let people enjoy themselves. If the swingers party is not loud, disorderly or in any way disturbing your personal enjoyment in your own house, then stay home, read a paper or become more informed about the lifestyle.
It’s time for society to become more accepting about the personal choices of others, whether it be sexuality or choice of lifestyle. If you have never been to a swingers club or have been around a group of swingers, then you’d never know that they are one of the rare groups that do not judge others about their looks or sexuality. Everyone is happy and relaxed. Maybe that’s what those protesting see or feel when a swingers club opens in their area, they are angry because someone else is something they are not, and that is happy.
I’d like to hear your comments and experiences on this subject. Make sure to leave me a comment.
